Getting started

Making your first one

Tap the new button on the library screen. Choose a photo from your library or take one with the camera, then hold the record button and say what you want to say. You can listen back before you keep it, give it a title, and save. It appears in your library.

Using more than one photo

You can add up to six photos and put them in whatever order you like. Your voice recording plays across the whole sequence, and you can choose whether the photos crossfade into each other or cut cleanly.

Playing one back

Tap any item in your library. The photo fills the screen and the audio plays with a waveform. Items with a recording show a small speaker icon on their thumbnail.

Sharing

Sending to someone who doesn't have Oculoria

Export it as a video. You get a Full HD MP4 that plays in Messages, on any phone or computer, and on social platforms — no app needed at the other end.

Sending to someone who does have Oculoria

Share the .vsnap file instead. It keeps the photos, audio, transcript, and title together as one item, and opens straight into their library.

What is a .vsnap file?

It's Oculoria's own file format — a single file holding your photos, your recording, the transcript, and the settings that describe how it should play. It exists so a photo and its voice can never be separated by accident. You can send one through Messages, AirDrop, Mail, or Files.

Someone sent me a .vsnap and I can't open it

Oculoria has to be installed first — the file needs the app to make sense of it. Once it is, tap the file in Messages or Files and choose Oculoria. If nothing happens, save the file to Files first, then tap it there. If the app reports that the file can't be read, it was probably damaged in transit; ask the sender to send it again.

Permissions

Why the app asks for the camera, microphone, and speech recognition

The camera is only used when you choose to take a photo in the app, the microphone only when you record, and speech recognition only to write the transcript — which happens on your iPhone, not on a server. You can review or change any of these in Settings › Oculoria.

I said no to a permission and now something won't work

Open Settings › Oculoria and switch the permission back on. Refusing the microphone stops recording; refusing the camera stops in-app photos but you can still choose from your library; refusing speech recognition stops transcripts but everything else keeps working.

The first transcript is taking a long time

The first time you transcribe anything, iOS downloads a speech model so that transcription can run offline afterwards. That happens once and needs a network connection. After that it works without one.

Your content

Where is everything stored?

On your iPhone, in Oculoria's own storage. There is no account and no cloud copy. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Will I lose everything if I delete the app?

Yes. Deleting Oculoria deletes everything in it. Export anything you want to keep — as a video or a .vsnap file — before deleting the app or moving to a new phone.

Does it use iCloud or sync between devices?

Not yet. Items live on the device that made them. Syncing is something we're considering.

Requirements

Oculoria requires iOS 26 or later and runs on iPhone. iPad support is planned for a future update.
