Privacy Policy
Oculoria does not collect your data. It has no account system, no servers, and no analytics. Your photos, voice recordings, and transcripts are stored on your device and are never sent to us.
This policy explains that in full, including the few places where Apple — not Oculoria — is involved.
What Oculoria stores, and where
Everything you create in Oculoria stays in the app's private storage on your iPhone:
- The photos you choose or capture
- Your voice recordings
- The transcripts generated from those recordings
- Titles, dates, and presentation settings
- Your app preferences, such as the default crossfade setting
None of this is transmitted to Oculoria or to any third party. Deleting an item removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Transcription happens on your device
Oculoria transcribes your voice recordings using Apple's on-device speech recognition, which is part of iOS. Your audio is processed on your iPhone and is not uploaded for transcription.
The first time you use transcription, iOS may download a speech model from Apple in order to do this work offline. That download is between your device and Apple, and it contains none of your content.
Permissions Oculoria asks for
iOS will ask your permission before Oculoria can use any of the following. You can refuse or later withdraw any of them in Settings › Oculoria, and the rest of the app keeps working.
- Camera — only to take a photo inside the app. Photos you take are handed straight to your recording and are not uploaded anywhere.
- Microphone — only to record the voice note you asked to record.
- Speech recognition — to produce a transcript on your device, as described above.
- Photo library (read) — to let you choose an existing photo. Oculoria copies the image you pick and never modifies, moves, or deletes your originals.
- Photo library (add) — only if you choose to save an exported video or image back to your photo library.
When you share something
Oculoria can export your work as a video file or as a .vsnap file, and hand it to the iOS share sheet. What happens next is entirely your choice: the file goes to whichever app or service you select — Messages, AirDrop, Mail, Files, or another app you have installed.
Oculoria has no part in that transfer and keeps no record of it. Once you send something to another person or service, that service's own privacy policy applies to it, and the recipient keeps their copy. Oculoria cannot recall or delete a copy that someone else has received.
A .vsnap file you send contains the photos, audio, transcript, title, and creation date of that item. Consider that before sharing one.
What we receive from Apple
We do not operate any servers, so we receive nothing directly. Apple, as the App Store operator, provides developers with limited information that we want to be transparent about:
- Aggregate App Store statistics — such as the number of downloads by region. These are summary figures and do not identify you.
- Crash and usage reports — only if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. These reports come from Apple, describe how the app failed, and contain none of your photos, recordings, or transcripts. You can turn this off at any time in that same setting.
Apple's handling of your information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
No tracking, no advertising, no third parties
Oculoria contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking technologies, and no third-party software development kits. It does not track you across apps or websites, does not build a profile of you, and does not sell or share personal information with anyone. Nothing about your use of the app is transmitted to us.
Children
Oculoria is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no information at all, there is nothing for us to hold, disclose, or delete.
Your rights over your data
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Your content lives on your device and is entirely under your control: you can view it, export it, or delete it in the app at any time, and deleting Oculoria removes all of it from your iPhone.
Changes to this policy
If Oculoria ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Any future feature that would transmit your content off your device would be described here first, and would be something you opt into.
